We have all been confronted with the task of preparing an urgent quote or carrying out an urgent task. How can a translation agency help you with a job that can’t wait?
WHAT DO WE CONSIDER TO BE AN URGENT TRANSLATION?
A translation is considered urgent when the delivery is requested in under 24 hours or when the volume exceeds 2,500 words per day (for example, a 10,000-word document to be translated in under 48 hours).
HOW DO WE MANAGE URGENT TRANSLATIONS?
As a rule, urgent translations require a team of skilled translators. Depending on the type of document, the language and the subject matter, a translator can translate between 1,000 and 2,500 words per day. If necessary, the project manager can divide up the original document and split the work between several different native-language translators.
IS THE QUALITY OF THE TRANSLATION STILL ASSURED?
All our translators have access to an automatic translation memory (or a memory that is specific to the client if we have worked with the client before), which they use to ensure the terminological consistency of each translation they deliver to us.
A proofreader whose native language is the target language then proofreads the project with a view to harmonising all of the translations, thereby ensuring a perfect end result.
ARE CERTAIN REQUESTS IMPOSSIBLE TO MEET?
InPuzzle will not accept work that requires more than four different professional translators (for example, a 30,000-word translation to deliver within 48 hours). In such cases we consider the quality to be sub-optimal. We prefer to be honest and reject such jobs rather than deliver work that does not meet the requirements and quality level that is expected of us.
WHAT OTHER OPTIONS ARE THERE?
Ensuring that all the documents you have been asked to have translated are, in fact, essential is the first step towards simplifying the job. If so, by examining the texts to be translated closely, it may be possible to identify parts that are either less urgent, or can be shortened or even omitted. This will make things easier for you as well as for us and allow us to be 100% sure that the translation will be delivered in time.
WHY ARE URGENT TRANSLATIONS MORE EXPENSIVE?
An urgent translation takes priority over other jobs that are already underway, but that isn’t the only reason for the higher price. In many cases, the entire team (translators, linguistic coordinators and project managers) must work overtime, over weekends or public holidays.
HOW MUCH MORE DOES AN URGENT TRANSLATION COST?
In general the cost is 20 to 35% more, depending on the volume, the delivery deadline and the target language.
